It is really annoying when each time you type, the mouse cursor blocking the view. But there is a solution on how to move away the cursor when you type. We called it, MouseAway.

Let say when you want to type something in Notepad, the cursor blocks your way. But when you using MouseAway, it will move the cursor away from the text you are writing. It is all depends on the cursor and the keyboard pointer. If the cursor is near to the keyboard pointer, MouseAway will move your cursor away from it.

MouseAway does not use too much resource. About 40kb is use and sometimes up to 900kb depending on the usage. Click here to download MouseAway.

Turn on Quick Edit Mode. This will allow you to easily select, copy and paste all with just your mouse and a right click.

When typing in a file or folder name, type in part of the name and then hit the TAB key to bring up matches. Use SHIFT +TAB to go the other direction.

When searching for a file, type in dir part_of_filename* to look for the file in the folder. To search sub directories as well, append the /s flag as well. Example: dir exp* /s

Use the up arrow to go back over past commands. Alternatively you can hit F7 and go directly to the command.

When working with network drives type: prompt $m$p$g to show the full network path along with the drive prompt. Other prompt settings can be found by running prompt /?.

You can print the contents of a file by typing: copy file.txt prn

Write the output of any command by appending > output.txt. For example, dir > filelist.txt

It is really a pain when you want to do something with Windows Vista, it will prompts you “Windows needs your permission to continue”. Instead of disable it and leave your Windows Vista unprotected, you can enable the User Account Control (UAC) quiet mode.

There is two ways for you to enable the quiet mode function. First, with this TweakUAC tool or via the registry. I talk about the TweakUAC first.

TweakUAC is a nice simple tool that will allow you to set whether you want to enable UAC, disable UAC or enable UAC in quiet mode. No installation is required just double click and run it. Just simple like ABC.

If you want to feel like a Windows Vista geek, you can enable the UAC quiet mode from the registry. Open up Registry Editor (Run > regedit) and go to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
“ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin”

and

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
“ConsentPromptBehaviorUser”

Set the value from 2 to 0. This will enable the UAC quiet mode.

Some peoples have problem when they want to wake up their Windows Vista. They need to press the Power button instead of just pressing any of the keyboard keys. This can be annoying for certain peoples. But what is the solution?

The solution is in the Bios. When your computer is booting, press the Bios setup key (usually is Del) and then set the options to “Wake by Keyboard”. Next, save the setting and restart your PC.

Now, you will have no problems when you want to wake up your Vista. Enjoy!

Yeah, it has been long time since my last update for this website. It was not because I am lazy to update but because I don’t have internet connection when I in university.

I have just subscribed an internet broadband and I’m using it right now. The speed is ok but sometimes it is really slow. Even my dial-up is much faster than this. But so far, I still can use it to download and update my websites.

So, if you have not yet subscribe my site feed, I really recommended you to subscribe now because I will take you to the world of Vista.

See you at the next update.

Safari is an internet browser built for Macintosh only. But the latest new Safari 3 (currently in Beta stage) is now also available for Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Why you should use Safari? Based from the graph chart, Safari takes less time to lunch, render HTML files and javascript. What does it mean? Well, you will surf websites more faster and smooth.

You can download Safari from their download page or maybe you might like to watch their short video here.

Fauzi: I currently using Opera as my default browser. Will use Safari and test how fast it can be.
